Best known as the play "what inspired" the musical My Fair Lady, Pygmalion is a story of phonetics and the importance of accent and grammar in society. Set in early 20th century London, it tells the story of how an arrogant phonetics expert places a wager with a colleague that he can take a girl from the gutter and turn her into a duchess in six months. However this has unforeseen consequences for all involved.
