Philip has been a pivotal member of the group since its foundation in 1983 and has won innumerable awards both as a director and actor.  As a director he brought the group to four All-Ireland Finals including second place with James Scotland’s “Hallowe’en in 1988.
The highlights of his prolific acting career include consecutive Best Actor Awards in the All-Ireland Confined Finals in 1991 and 1992 for his portrayal of Sanbatch in M.J. Molloy’s “The Wood of the Whispering” and Casimir in Brian Friel’s “Aristocrats”. Other roles include The Canon in “Moll”, Mike Glavin in “Sive”, Tim Gallagher in “The Communication Cord”, Dr. Chumley in “Harvey”, Steven in “Poor Beast in the Rain” and Sir Robert Chiltern in “An Ideal Husband”.  More recently he has played Professor Tim in “Professor Tim”, Colonel Wagstaff in “Dry Rot” and Professor Henry Higgins in “Pygmalion”.
Last year Philip returned to directing with Tom Murphy’s “A Crucial Week in the Life of a Grocer’s Assistant”.  He is delighted to be afforded the opportunity to bring “Cambusdonald Royal - The Second Sorcerer’s Tale “ to Irish audiences.
