Compántas Lir have begun this years tour on the amateur drama circuit in style, scooping an unprecidented  amount of awards in their opening festival in Kildare town. The results were made on Friday last, 6th March. Adjudicator Don McCallan praised the production and rewarded it with Best play in the Confined section. Last night, Sunday 8th March, the group perfromedin Leinster again, in the opening night of the Dundrum festival in Co.Dublin. 

The full list of awards were :
Best Play - Confined
Best Director : Brid Conneely
Best Actor : Philip Cribbin
Best Actress : Ruth O'Driscoll
Best Supporting Actor: Vincent Moran
Best Supporting Actress: Fidelma O'Rourke
Drama Scholarship Award : Ruth O'Driscoll

The group now face a trip to Roscommon on Wednesday 11th, before opening the Claregalway festival on the  following night Thursday 12th. Director Brid Conneely was delighted with the results from Kildare, and  praised her cast and backstage crew. She spoke ofthe dangers of complacancy at this early stage but pointed to the experience of her cast to overcome this.The Claregalway show is always a special one and the cast will be giving it their all in front of the home crowd. Tickets for the show are still available.
