Image This has been a busy weekend for Compántas Lir, playing three nights in the Town Hall theatre and waiting on the results from two fetivals. Most of the group had rushed out on Friday night to Claregalway for closing night. Adjudicator Fred Williams was busy on stage and he awarded Best Suporting Actress to Fidelma O'Rourke. In what he described as a "near perfect" version of the play he awarded the Best Confined Play to The Year of the Hiker, this was followed by Best Director to Brid Conneely.

This result meant a trip to the All-Ireland finals in Strabane Co.Tyrone which begins on April 17th. All this and the group had still one more night to perform in Galway and were hopeful of a good result from Glenamaddy.

After the final curtain in the Town Hall on Saturday night, the set was dismantled in record time and Compántas Lir made their way to the Arches Pub in Claregalway where they awaited the results from Glenamaddy Festival. John Brennan represented the group and he arrived back with two arms bulging under the weight of the trophies. Cheers and tears followed as the results were passed on. Best Actor Vincent Moran, Best Supporting Actor Dermot Hession, Best Actress Liz Hession, Best Set, Best Director Brid Conneely and Best Confined Play. Ruth O'Driscoll was nominated also for Best Supporting Actress.

The celebrations continued on for a few hours as the results sunk in. The group have a meeting tonight Monday in the Carnmore Community Centre 7:30pm.
